I can't sleep, afraid of what I might see. Laying in my bed hoping that this is just another bad dream. I hear people scream on my TV screen. And the body counts rising from another mad man's scheme. Why can't we find the love, can't we care for each other? Is this world really falling apart? If we can't get it together can it ever get better? Are we doomed to a failing heart? Who's to blame for this nation's shame? I hear lots of people praying but nothing ever seems to change. A country torn in two, choosing red or blue. Both sides keep talking but no one knows what to do. It's in the paper every day. But you turn around and just walk away.

For so long we've been side by side many seasons turned and the fire still burned. Lately, it's been quite a bumpy ride. There's something I must confide. I don't miss you now you're gone. I thought I would but I was wrong. I don't miss the thing you say. 'Cause, it was it never about anything but you anyway. It ain't like I'll never see you again. No, I'm not angry. I'll still be your friend. They say distance, it makes the heart grow fonder. Well, let's just stay apart a little longer. We've both got a road to follow. It's just gotten so hard to swallow. I'll always wish you only the best. I hope you find some peace. I hope you get some rest. So, don't feel slighted if I don't pick up the phone. I can see it's you calling. I just want to be alone.

Tell me what is a life and how is it led? Does the love and loss we've known live on when we're dead? What is a soul and how is it rated? Are we just sum totals of all that we created? It's these questions of the ages that keep me from sleep. Wondering if there's more that's just out of reach. Life can knock you down with the lessons it will teach. But, there's peace here to be found when you're lying next to me. What is love and do we ever get it right? Why do we only see what we had when it's gone from our sight? How will I know if I've done what I can? Will I be lifted up or struck down by some greater hand? I know I've gotten it all wrong before. Felt the sting of watching love walk out of that door. But, if you trust in me I know there'll be room for this to grow and we'll find the answers that we've been searching for.

On the southside of Laredo where dreams go to die there's a young girl with a heart full of hope counting stars up in the sky Most say she'll never get out of here like so many before who tried. But she sees right thorugh their jealous fears and all they try to hide There must be someplace in this world Someplace where dreams can come unfurled for a border town girl. There's a boy she's known since grade school says he's gonna make her his bride. She knows she's gonna break his heart and shatter all his pride. Her friends all say that she's crazy. Say she's dreaming her life away. But this town is full of too many souls that never got away. There must be more to this life than just to be somebodies wife prays a border town girl Now her bags are packed and she's leaving though her daddy doesn't know. It's more than he'll ever understand but she knows it's time to go Fear is riding beside her as they cross that county line. She's never been this far from home but her heart tells her it's time. It's time to spread her wings and fly. No time to stop and wonder why. No more border town girl....

Why Wyoming 05:08
There's a whole lot of nothing in Wyoming. Tell me, Lord, how did I find you? Through the darkness I was owning, til the dawns first line shown through. Like the cool waters of the Wind River, you came rushing through my heart. And it left me with such a shiver when I knew we'd have to part. Why Wyoming? Why'd you have to treat me this way? Tell me why Wyoming, when you know that I can stay. Miles and miles of nothing, then suddenly there was you. Into your arms I was rushing like a fool falling right on cue. Oer the endless, empty highways, we both knew if wouldn't last. And these lonely words may sound cliche but the hours just went too fast.
